THE CALL OF THE CURLEW
This piece was inspired by my wish to support the Curlew Connections Project across Mid Wales and beyond. Numbers of Curlew in the Welsh uplands have been falling in recent years. Loss of privacy and habitat, land improvement, quad bike activity and wind turbines are some of the factors contributing to their rapid decline. The aim of the Curlew artwork produced by artists at Mid Wales Arts Centre is to raise awareness of the threat that the Curlew in Mid Wales faces.
If you wish to make a difference to the plight of the Curlew in Mid Wales, go to the Curlew-Connections page of the GWCT website of the GWCT (Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust): www.gwct.wales/curlew-connections. There are a variety of ways in which you can support this important charity, including membership and one-off donations.
I particularly enjoyed creating this piece as I like the golden colours of the Curlew's feathers when the sunlight catches them and the soft colours of the grasslands and water's edge in which they thrive.
My 2D mosaic pieces are cemented onto ¾” deep MDF board with a border of either glass or mosaic tiles, in order to create a frame for the image. The back is painted matt with a harmonizing colour. They can be used as tiles for a flat surface or they can be hung on a picture hook. They are fitted with D-rings and wire should you wish to hang the piece. This can easily be removed if you wish to use it as a tile. If you’d like the D-rings to be removed before delivery, please make contact with me via my Contacts Link.
The image displayed in a “virtual” room is for illustration purposes and is not representative of the actual dimensions. Please refer to the size information below. Also, this piece is not framed, although it is possible to have it framed. If you would like me to organise this, please make contact with me by email via my Contacts Link.
Size: 12" x 7"
Postage and packing: Free in the UK
Mosaics are carefully packaged in bubble wrap and either a padded envelope or a cardboard box. All orders include tracking and may be shipped from outside the UK. Estimated delivery time is 7-15 days, depending on location.
If you are outside the UK, please make contact via the Contact page for the cost of postage and packing.
